Logistics


Dacapo has a unique logistics system, which allows us to serve all our customers in all our core markets on a very reliable basis with short lead times and competitive order deadlines. In fact about 90 % of our customers in Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands can expect delivery the following working day, subject to orders being placed before the relevant cut-off times. Lead times for customers in other markets world-wide are also very short.

The core of our logistics system is our 40,000m2 dedicated long products warehouse in Silkeborg, Denmark and our automated 4,000m2 fittings warehouse in Helmond, the Netherlands from where all products are distributed in cooperation with our experienced logistics partners. 


All long and flat products (tubes, pipes, bars, sections) are stocked ONLY in Silkeborg, Denmark and all small item products (fittings, flanges, valves) are stocked ONLY in Helmond, The Netherlands. This in effect means that any single product item is only stocked in one location, which offers our customers several advantages:

High stock availability because:

  • We only manage one stock location per item so we can buy standard mill quantities more often and take direct delivery. This means  No transshipment, No internal distribution, No repacking, Less handling and therefore  Lower costs.
  • We can maintain high minimum quantities in stock because we serve all markets from one location, while still rotating our stock frequently.
  • We can justify to keep a very wide range of products because even slow-movers move “fast enough”

Fast delivery because:

  • Either we have it in stock or we don’t. Customers will never have to wait for internal repositioning of goods nor to accept delivery of the same product from various warehouses.
  • We make daily over-night shipments of long products from Silkeborg to Helmond, from where immediate re-distribution takes place to customers in The Netherlands and in Germany, for same day delivery.
  • Small item goods are dispatched daily from Helmond by logistic partners (DPD & DHL) reaching most customers in Europe on a day-to-day basis and customers in the rest of the world with very short lead times.
